Der Fahrer wurde inzwischen freigelassen, wie ein AFP-Reporter berichtete. https://news.vice.com/article/turkey-ac ... ganizationA Turkish court leveled formal charges of terrorism at two VICE News journalists and their colleague on Monday, as global rights groups have called for the reporters to be released.

The journalists—Iraqi national Mohammed Ismael Rasool, and Jake Hanrahan and Philip Pendlebury of the U.K.—have “knowingly and willingly helped” an armed terrorist group, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency said, citing the Diyarbakir court’s ruling but without specifying the terrorist organization the men were alleged to have helped. The three men also allegedly joined the “hierarchy in the armed organization.”
“The Turkish government has leveled baseless and alarmingly false charges of ‘working on behalf of a terrorist organization’ against three Vice News reporters, in an attempt to intimidate and censor their coverage,” said Kevin Sutcliffe, who heads Europe coverage at the New York-based media site. “We continue to work with all relevant authorities to expedite the safe release of our three colleagues.”
While some media reports indicate that the three Vice News journalists have been charged in connection with their reporting on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, according to Amnesty International, police officers in the southeastern Diyarbakir province said they were detained for assisting Islamic State.
As part of its efforts to free the journalists, Vice News is coordinating with U.K. diplomats and rights-advocacy groups, according to a person familiar with the procedures. The media outlet is also seeking to clarify whether the terrorism-related charges are related to Islamic State or the PKK.[...]
Die Journalisten müssen umgehend freigelassen werden.
